Supercell's Squad Busters Tops 40 Million Installs with $24M Revenue

Supercell's latest MOBA-RTS hybrid Squad Busters has achieved 40 million installs and $24 million in net revenue during its first month. The game found strongest traction in the United States, followed by Indonesia, Brazil, Turkey and South Korea.

Concerns Emerge Behind Strong Launch Numbers

Despite impressive initial figures, analysts note concerning trends for Supercell. Revenue shows a 44% decline compared to Brawl Stars' $43 million debut month in 2018, and a massive 79% drop from Clash Royale's $115 million first month in 2016.

Player acquisition also shows worrying patterns, with installs plummeting from 30 million in Week 1 to under 5 million by Month's end.

Signs of Supercell Fatigue?

Industry observers suggest these diminishing returns may indicate mobile gamers are experiencing Supercell fatigue. As reference, miHoYo's Honkai Star Rail earned $190 million in its debut month - nearly 8x Squad Busters' revenue.

While Squad Busters delivers polished gameplay, critics note it occupies similar design space to Supercell's existing titles. This raises questions about whether the publisher needs fresh creative approaches to recapture its past dominance.
