Introducing the Ultimate Guide to Seamless Character Swapping in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you primarily play as the Wanderer, striving for peace. Story choices influence your journey, and companions often join you in battle. While companions fight alongside you, occasional control is possible. Their strength often surpasses the Wanderer's, making switching advantageous. Here's how:

Character Switching in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Companion control is only available during battles where a companion is present. Before battle, the companion selection is the last option in the pre-battle menu; choosing to go solo prevents switching. Once engaged, your companion's health bar appears below yours in the bottom right.

Beneath their health bar is a blue meter, similar to your Musou gauge. This fills through various actions:

  • Parrying attacks
  • Perfect dodging
  • Attacking officers
  • Utilizing Weapon Arts

Most combat actions gradually fill this meter. Once full, a "Change Character" button appears beside it. Press and hold this button (View on Xbox, C on PC, Touchpad on PlayStation) for a second to switch.

Playing as Companions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Switching characters is best suited for intense battles. Companions are exceptionally powerful, but control is temporary (approximately one minute). The blue meter depletes, indicating the remaining time. Your new character starts with full Bravery and a range of effective combat arts.

Switching initiates a powerful attack; aim carefully. The companion also possesses a full Musou gauge and health bar, allowing immediate use of their special attack.
