Xbox Game Pass Surges with Indiana Jones, Call of Duty; Hardware Sales Decline

During Microsoft’s recent Q2 investor call, CEO Satya Nadella shared a亮眼 piece of news: *Indiana Jones and The Great Circle* has now reached 4 million players. While the broader gaming division's earnings report was relatively subdued, this figure stands out as a strong indicator of player engagement and interest in the title.

Developed by MachineGames, *Indiana Jones and The Great Circle* has not only captured the attention of players but also earned widespread critical acclaim and several industry awards. Despite being available on Xbox Game Pass—which makes traditional sales figures difficult to track—reaching 4 million players is a significant achievement, especially for a AAA title that revived one of gaming’s most iconic franchises in a modern setting.

Our own review praised the game as an "irresistible and immersive global treasure hunt," and it received nominations for Game of the Year and Best Xbox Game. You can read our full thoughts here.

Beyond *Indiana Jones*, Microsoft highlighted other key growth metrics within its gaming ecosystem. Xbox Game Pass for PC saw a 30% increase in subscriptions last quarter, contributing to a new quarterly revenue record. Cloud gaming also showed strength, with over 140 million hours streamed, helping drive a 2% rise in Xbox content and services revenue.

However, not all news was positive. While Game Pass continues to grow, overall gaming revenue fell by 7%, and hardware revenue dropped by 29% compared to the previous year. This suggests Microsoft still faces challenges in the console and hardware market.

Still, the company’s ongoing investment in Game Pass appears to be yielding results. Much of the PC subscriber growth can be attributed to a strong lineup of exclusive day-one releases last quarter, including *Indiana Jones and The Great Circle*, *Call of Duty: Black Ops 6*, and *Microsoft Flight Simulator*—all available to Xbox Ultimate subscribers from launch.
