Shift Up's Record Year as Stellar Blade PC Demand Soars

Author:Kristen Update:Dec 31,2025

Developer Shift Up has had a record-breaking year financially with Stellar Blade, earning $43 million in royalties. The PC version is expected to outperform the original PlayStation 5 release.

According to Game World Observer, Shift Up's 2024 financial report showed revenue of $151.4 million—a 30.4% year-over-year increase. Stellar Blade royalties alone contributed $43.2 million.

There’s no sign of a slowdown, as Shift Up reiterated that PC sales are projected to be "better than the console version, particularly in the Asian market." The studio also plans to announce its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. This does not appear to be the highly anticipated Stellar Blade sequel.

Project Witches was unveiled in 2024, shortly after Stellar Blade launched on PS5—before demand for a sequel gained momentum. Still, Shift Up has confirmed it is considering another installment in the franchise.

In Stellar Blade, players step into the role of Eve, fighting off unknown invaders to reclaim Earth through fast-paced action RPG combat. IGN’s review scored it 7/10, and the game proved highly popular, quickly selling one million copies.

We noted, "Stellar Blade excels where it matters most in an action game, but weak characters, an unremarkable story, and several frustrating RPG mechanics keep it from ranking among the genre’s best."
