Capcom officially announced that Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds) has set a new internal sales record, reaching over 8 million units sold within three days of launch—making it the fastest-selling title in the company's history. This achievement highlights the enduring popularity of the franchise and the success of Capcom’s marketing efforts, which included appearances at major gaming events and a widely accessible open beta test prior to launch.

Even before this announcement, the game had already shown strong performance on PC platforms. According to SteamDB, MH Wilds peaked at over 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam shortly after launch, despite receiving mixed early reviews from players.

Latest Update Addressed Game-Breaking Bug

In response to player feedback, Capcom released a hotfix patch (Ver.1.000.04.00) across all platforms on March 4, 2025. The update tackled several critical issues that were preventing players from progressing smoothly in the game.

Key fixes include:

  • Resolving an issue where the "Grill a Meal" and "Ingredient Center" features failed to unlock despite meeting the required conditions.
  • Restoring access to the Monster Field Guide, which had been previously unopenable for some users.
  • Patching a major bug that blocked story progression in Chapter 5-2, titled "A World Turned Upside Down."

Capcom advises players to ensure they have the latest version of the game installed in order to continue playing online without disruption.

However, not all known issues have been resolved. Some bugs remain, such as network errors triggered when firing an SOS flare during active quests, and Palico blunt weapons failing to apply stun or exhaust damage. These multiplayer-related issues are expected to be addressed in future updates.

As the development team continues to monitor feedback and roll out patches, Monster Hunter Wilds remains a dominant force in the gaming world, proving that even with early technical challenges, a passionate fanbase can drive a title to unprecedented success.
