Nishino Named Sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment

Author:Kristen Update:Oct 14,2025

Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the exclusive CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, effective April 1, 2025.

The announcement was made in an evening press release, which also disclosed Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki's promotion to president and CEO of the entire corporation. He takes over from Kenichiro Yoshida, who held the CEO position since April 2018 following Kazuo Hirai's tenure. Furthermore, Lin Tao, SVP of finance, corporate development and strategy, has been elevated to CFO.

Following former CEO Jim Ryan's departure last year, Nishino initially shared leadership responsibilities with Hermen Hulst - Hulst heading PlayStation Studios while Nishino managed hardware and technology. With this restructuring, Nishino assumes full oversight of SIE operations along with leading the platform business group, whereas Hulst maintains his current position overseeing PlayStation Studios exclusively.

A Sony veteran since 2000, Nishino previously served as SVP of the platform experience group.

"It's an immense privilege to lead Sony Interactive Entertainment," Nishino stated. "Our commitment remains steadfast in combining technological excellence with creative innovation to deliver entertainment experiences for all audiences. We'll pioneer new approaches to expand the PlayStation community through IP development while maintaining our leadership in technological advancement. I sincerely appreciate Hermen's continued guidance as CEO of the Studio Business Group, and I'm profoundly thankful for our passionate PlayStation community's enduring support. The future promises extraordinary opportunities."
