Cattle Country, a soon-to-be-released Steam game, promises a Wild West twist on the popular farming and life sim genre, drawing comparisons to Stardew Valley. Developed by Castle Pixel, known for titles like Rex Rocket and Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince, Cattle Country marks their foray into farming sims.

The game, described as a "Cozy Cowboy Adventure Life Sim," retains familiar farming mechanics—building a homestead, town development, and forging friendships with villagers. However, its unique selling point is its Old West setting.

What distinguishes Cattle Country?

The game’s setting is its most striking feature. The reveal trailer showcases scenes of nighttime cattle herding, horse-drawn wagons, and even action-packed elements such as a saloon shootout and a fistfight in a makeshift arena. Mining is included, presented in a 2D style reminiscent of Terraria.

Fans of the genre will recognize familiar activities: planting and harvesting, using scarecrows, and logging. The game also incorporates festivals, including a Santa Claus visit and a square dance, adding original touches to established tropes.

While a release date remains unannounced, Cattle Country is currently available for wishlisting on Steam.
