The Voodoo Doll is considered one of the safer Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia due to its favorable risk-reward ratio. Despite changes from game updates, it remains a valuable option for players.

The primary function of the Voodoo Doll is to provoke the ghost into performing evidence-related actions. This is achieved by inserting pins into the doll, one at a time. It's particularly useful when dealing with a ghost that's being uncooperative or silent, as it can force the ghost to reveal evidence like EMF5 readings or Ultraviolet prints.

There are 10 pins available to insert into the doll, each triggering a ghost action. However, users must be cautious as each pin insertion reduces their sanity by 5%. Inserting all pins could drain up to 50% of your sanity, significantly increasing the risk of ghost hunts.

The most critical risk is the pin located in the doll's heart. Inserting pins is random, and if you hit the heart pin, it will instantly drop your sanity by 10% and trigger a Cursed Hunt. During a Cursed Hunt, the ghost will spawn near you and hunt for an extended period (20 seconds longer than normal hunts).

Despite these risks, the Voodoo Doll can be a worthwhile tool for gathering evidence, provided you're well-prepared.

Cursed Possessions, often referred to as "Cursed Objects," are unique items in Phasmophobia that randomly appear on any map, influenced by difficulty settings or Challenge Mode.

Unlike regular equipment, which helps locate ghosts and gather evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate ghost behavior but at a much higher risk to your character. The safety of using these objects varies based on their specific abilities, and it's up to you and your team to decide whether to use them. There's no penalty for choosing not to use them, and only one Cursed Possession will spawn per contract, unless modified in Custom settings.

There are seven different Cursed Objects available in the game:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
