*Build Defense* is an engaging *Roblox* game that combines the thrill of building with the challenge of survival against various threats, including monster attacks, tornados, bombs, and aliens. While it might resemble *Minecraft* at a glance, *Build Defense* is more akin to the original *Fortnite* in gameplay. Regardless of its inspirations, this game offers a fun yet complex experience, which is why we've put together this Beginner’s Guide to help you get started and enhance your gameplay.
Build Defense Beginner’s Guide
Below, we outline essential tips that we wished we knew when we first started playing. Implementing these strategies can significantly boost your enjoyment and progress in the game.
The object of the game is to survive…
Screenshot by The EscapistUpon entering your world and claiming your plot of land, you might think the goal is to protect it. However, the real objective is to survive, or in other words, avoid dying. The game will throw numerous dangers at you, and your task is to endure them. Ideally, you should survive at your plot by constructing a defensive structure, but you can also evade threats by running around the world until the danger passes (a tactic we've successfully used). Each time you survive, you earn a "Win" and some in-game currency, which is crucial for progression. Keep an eye on screen messages and focus on staying alive.
… dying is completely normal
Screenshot by The EscapistDon't be discouraged if you die; it's a common occurrence in *Build Defense*. The consequences are minimal: you'll respawn immediately, lose your items, and fail the current wave of enemies. However, you can repurchase your weapons and items, and your structures remain intact as they can't be destroyed by monsters or disasters. Another wave of attacks comes every two minutes, giving you plenty of opportunities to try again. Essentially, all you lose is a bit of time.
Build high, not low
Screenshot by The EscapistWe initially thought building a wall around our plot would suffice, but it proved ineffective as monsters could easily breach our entry and exit points. A more effective strategy is to construct a set of stairs that ascend high into the sky, topped with a platform. During nighttime, you can retreat to this high ground and wait out the danger. Monsters attempting to climb these steep stairs are likely to fall, and those that reach the top can be met with a barrage of turrets. This setup is nearly foolproof and will help you survive most nights.
Don’t just build, explore!
Screenshot by The EscapistThere's a lot more to do on the island than just focusing on your plot. You can visit other players, sell your ores, and engage in various quests. Most quests require a certain number of Wins to start, but some, like the **Gingerbread’s House quest**, are available right away. Completing these quests is beneficial as they can unlock new building parts, enhancing your defensive structures.
The “Shop” isn’t just for premium items
Screenshot by The EscapistAs you advance in the game, don't forget to explore the Shop. Most items can be purchased using in-game currency, but you'll need to accumulate a significant number of Wins first. Before diving into the Shop, spend some time playing the game. Also, remember to join the Swiftplay Roblox group and like, favorite, and follow the game to receive a free gift.
When you’re ready, move to the next area

That’s all there is to it. Enjoy surviving and building in *Build Defense*. Don't forget to check out our *Build Defense* codes for some cool in-game freebies.
