Ubisoft Details Character Customization and Progression in Assassin's Creed: Shadows

Assassin's Creed: Shadows' New Gameplay Details Unveiled: Yasuke and Naoe's Progression

Ubisoft has published a new blog post highlighting the gameplay mechanics of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, specifically focusing on the equipment and character progression systems for Yasuke and Naoe. A key feature is a significant enhancement to the iconic Hidden Blade.

Each character boasts a unique skill tree reflecting their fighting style: Yasuke's emphasizes samurai techniques, while Naoe's centers on shinobi skills. Players earn skill points to unlock weapon-specific abilities and refine combat styles. Mastery points are gained by completing open-world tasks and defeating challenging enemies, such as Daisyo samurai.

A balanced progression system ensures both characters advance at a similar pace. Acquiring powerful abilities often necessitates specific actions, such as tracking down a clandestine shinobi group. Other upgrades are linked to the "Knowledge" system, which progresses through studying ancient texts or performing rituals at shrines. Reaching Knowledge rank six unlocks a new skill tree.

The game also features a tiered equipment system with five quality levels: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Gear can be upgraded and visually customized at a blacksmith. Armor and weapon perks can dramatically alter gameplay.

The Hidden Blade returns with its signature one-hit kill capability. Assassin's Creed: Shadows launches worldwide on March 20th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
