Split Fiction streamers have unlocked an exciting reward by conquering the game's secret "Laser Hell" stage, earning them a trip to Hazelight Studios. This article dives into the details of the challenging Laser Hell stage and provides updates on what Hazelight Studios is planning next after the success of Split Fiction.
Following its successful launch last month, Split Fiction continues to surprise players with hidden challenges. The secret "Laser Hell" stage, known for its difficulty, was recently completed by Chinese streamers sharkOvO and E1uM4y. Their achievement was showcased in a video on BiliBili, where they revealed how to access this stage by entering a specific sequence of switch presses in the Isolation level's elevator, leading to a laser-filled platform challenge.
Upon completing the stage, the duo unlocked a congratulatory video from Hazelight Founder Josef Fares. He praised their accomplishment, noting that even many of the game's developers struggled with the level. Fares then extended an invitation for the streamers to visit Hazelight Studios in Sweden, a promise he reiterated on Twitter (X) on March 19, expressing his excitement and commitment to showing them an early look at the studio's next project.
In a recent interview on The Friends Per Second podcast on March 17, Josef Fares discussed Hazelight's ongoing relationship with publisher EA and hinted at the studio's next game. Fares expressed that while Split Fiction has been exceptionally well-received, his focus has already shifted to the next project, which the team began working on about a month ago.
Fares kept details about the new game under wraps, explaining that it's still in the early stages. He mentioned that Hazelight typically works on a game for three to four years, suggesting that more information will be shared as the project progresses. He emphasized the studio's excitement about the new venture.
Regarding their relationship with EA, Fares clarified that Hazelight operates with full creative control. He praised EA for being a supportive partner that respects the studio's independence, despite any negative perceptions of the publisher in the broader gaming community.
On March 17, Split Fiction received its first update, addressing several community-reported issues. The update fixed various in-game mechanics, online play glitches, and improved localization and subtitles across all languages.
Additionally, Split Fiction achieved a significant milestone by selling over 2 million copies within just one week of its release. This impressive figure contrasts with Hazelight's previous hit, It Takes Two, which reached 1 million sales a few weeks after its launch and eventually sold 20 million copies by October 2024.
Split Fiction is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest news on the game by checking out our related articles below!
