The Sims 1 & 2 Return in 25th Anniversary Bundle

EA and Maxis are marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of The Sims with a fantastic surprise. Both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are now available again on PC through two separate Legacy Collections, and together in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.

Today, EA confirmed the release of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection for PC. Each game collection is sold individually, or together for a total of $40 as part of the 25th Birthday Bundle.

Both collections contain every expansion and nearly every stuff pack. The only known exception is that The Sims 2 collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008. Apart from that, all content is included. In fact, both collections feature bonus material: The Sims 1 includes a Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 adds a Grunge Revival Kit on top of its existing add-ons.

EA's re-release of these first two games makes them widely accessible for the first time in over ten years. The Sims 1 was originally a disc-only release, so unless players could find an old physical copy and get it running on modern Windows, the game was effectively unavailable—especially with all its expansions. The Sims 2 was more recently offered as an Ultimate Collection on Origin in 2014, but that version was later removed. Unless fans grabbed it then, The Sims 2 was also hard to find without an old disc. With these new collections, all four main Sims titles are now easy to buy and play again through digital stores.

When we first reviewed them, The Sims 1 scored a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10. While the series has since introduced many new features and smoothed over rough edges, these original games are still worth revisiting for their charming silliness, simpler gameplay, greater challenge, and important legacy.

The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are available now on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the EA app.
