Console Performance Targets Revealed

In their pre-launch community update stream on December 19th at 9AM EST / 6AM PST, the Monster Hunter Wilds team, including director Yuya Tokuda, shared insights on the game's performance post-Open Beta Test (OBT). They confirmed that a patch for the PS5 Pro will be available at launch next year, promising enhanced graphics.

For console gamers, Monster Hunter Wilds will offer two performance modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X: Prioritize Graphics and Prioritize Framerate. Opting for graphics will deliver the game at 4K resolution with 30fps, while choosing framerate will give you 1080p resolution at 60fps. Xbox Series S users will experience the game at 1080p resolution with 30fps. A recent fix addressed a rendering bug in the Framerate mode, leading to improved performance.

The developers are also mulling over a second open beta test, intended primarily for players who missed the first one. This hypothetical beta will not include the new changes discussed in the stream, which will be exclusive to the full release. These changes include adjustments to hitstop and sound effects to enhance the sense of impact, alongside efforts to reduce friendly fire and refine weapons, with special attention to the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
