Mastering Monster Capture Techniques in Monster Hunter Wilds

Slaying monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is a thrill, but capturing them is key to unlocking all their valuable parts. Here's your step-by-step guide on how to master the art of monster capturing in this exhilarating game.

Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is straightforward, yet thrilling. Your goal is to weaken the monster until it's vulnerable, then trap and tranquilize it for capture. Here's how to do it seamlessly:

First, you need to bring the monster to a weakened state. Your trusty Palico will alert you when the monster is on its last legs. You'll also spot telltale signs like a skull icon appearing over the monster on your minimap, along with the monster limping or drooling, indicating low HP.

With the monster sufficiently weakened, it's time to set your trap. Choose between a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap and position it strategically on the ground. Lure the weakened monster into the trap's area. Once it triggers the trap, the monster will be immobilized for a brief moment—your perfect window to act. Quickly throw one or two Tranq Bombs at the trapped monster to finalize the capture. Alternatively, if you're using a ranged weapon, you can opt for Tranq Ammo, or if you're melee-focused, Tranq Blades can do the trick.

Successfully capturing a monster will conclude your quest and transport you back to Base Camp, ready to reap the rewards of your efforts.

How to Get Traps and Tranq Items

While your Palico may occasionally lay traps, it's wise to come prepared with your own. There are two main types of traps you'll need: Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps. Crafting a Pitfall Trap requires a Trap Tool and either Spiderwebs or Ivy for the Net. For a Shock Trap, you'll need a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.

For your tranquilizing needs, Tranq Bombs are essential. Craft them using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These Tranq Bombs can further be combined with Throwing Knives to create Tranq Blades or with Normal Ammo for Tranq Ammo, depending on your preferred playstyle.
