New Lego Sets Reveal Mobs in Jack Black’s Minecraft Movie

Lego has unveiled a series of A Minecraft Movie sets launching before the Jack Black-starring live-action film, offering clues about the mobs fans will encounter.

According to Games Radar, the Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring and The Ghast Balloon Village Attack are the two sets revealed so far. These complement the existing Minecraft sets and include minifigures of Black’s Steve and Jason Momoa’s The Garbage Man.

The Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring hints at a gladiator-style battle in the movie, with this $49.99, 491-piece set depicting Momoa’s character facing a zombie atop a giant chicken. It’s uncertain whether this represents a baby zombie on a standard chicken or a scaled-up version, but the figure towers over The Garbage Man.

The set also features Steve, his friend Henry, and a massive zombie pigman, alongside a fighting ring, a gold-filled chest, and a small weapons-equipped viewing stand.

The Ghast Balloon Village Attack set confirms the Nether’s marshmallow-like ghast will appear in the film, portraying a major battle in an overworld village. It includes one villager minifigure, two piglins, Steve, Natalie, Dawn, and an iron golem.

Priced at $69.99 with 555 pieces, both sets hit stores on March 1, ahead of A Minecraft Movie’s April 4 theatrical release.

The film, fully revealed in September, faced immediate fan backlash for the contrast between live-action characters and the green-screen animated world. One fan even reimagined the trailer in a fully animated format.

In November, the director and producer told IGN they anticipated this response but assured they were “prepared for all feedback.”
