Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Ghostly Reconnaissance

In Phasmophobia, tackling the most elusive specters often requires employing risky but rewarding Cursed Possessions. The Haunted Mirror stands out as a particularly useful, yet manageable, tool. This guide explains its function and usage.

Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

The Haunted Mirror is arguably the safest Cursed Object in Phasmophobia, offering significant advantages that outweigh the risks. Its functionality remains consistent across game updates, making its use highly recommended if encountered.

Its primary benefit is revealing the ghost's preferred room or area. A panoramic view of this location is displayed in the mirror's reflection, significantly speeding up the investigation process. Knowing the ghost's location allows for strategic equipment placement before the situation becomes perilous.

The Haunted Mirror typically appears hanging on a wall (like in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or resting on the floor in a predetermined spot. Cursed Objects always spawn in the same location on a map; the randomness lies in which object appears.

To use it, pick up the mirror and interact with it using the appropriate button (mouse or controller). The reflection will show the ghost's current haunt. On Professional difficulty or higher, remember that the ghost's location can change after a time.

Caution: Prolonged gazing into the mirror depletes sanity. Holding it for the entire duration will shatter the mirror, triggering a Cursed Hunt at your location. Use it wisely when sanity is high, and interpret the reflection accurately.

Cursed Possessions, or "Cursed Objects," are unique items that randomly spawn on any map (though this can vary depending on difficulty and Challenge Mode).

Unlike standard equipment, which aids in ghost detection and evidence gathering with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost, but at a significantly higher risk to your character.

The risk associated with each Cursed Object varies, leaving the decision of whether to use them to the players. There's no penalty for avoiding them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist in the game:

  • Summoning Circle
  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
