Players Discover Game-Breaking Stunlock Exploit

The open beta weekend for Dune: Awakening offered players a sneak peek at the first 20-25 hours of gameplay along with other features. During the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, participants uncovered an exploit that enables players to stun their opponents indefinitely in PvP scenarios.

The "stunlock exploit" occurs when a player continuously uses quick knife attacks on an opponent who has depleted their stamina. The targeted player becomes unable to defend themselves, use abilities, or escape, effectively trapping them in a continuous state of stagger.

This issue gained widespread attention after being highlighted during the livestreams of popular streamers Tyler1 and Shroud, bringing the exploit into the spotlight.

Funcom Promises Fix Before Launch

During the same Global LAN Party livestream, Funcom's developers, including Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley, witnessed the stunlock exploit and promptly acknowledged the issue. They assured players that a fix would be implemented before the game's official release.

Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away."
