Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is crafting The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world vampire RPG aiming for the quality bar set by The Witcher 3, albeit on a smaller scale. This article delves into the upcoming title and the director's vision.

A Focused, High-Quality Experience

In an interview with GamesRadar, creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified the studio's AAA aspirations. Despite being a smaller team launching their first game, they're targeting Witcher 3-level quality. When questioned about the game's classification (AA vs. AAA), Tomaszkiewicz emphasized their commitment to AAA standards: "In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level of The Witcher 3."

Rebel Wolves, while a new studio, boasts a veteran team with extensive experience on titles like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The Tomaszkiewicz brothers founded the studio to pursue greater creative freedom than larger AAA environments allow.

Tomaszkiewicz acknowledged the game's smaller scope compared to AAA behemoths. They aim for a 30-40 hour main campaign, a length he argues isn't inherently indicative of quality, citing shorter AAA titles like Call of Duty. The focus is on delivering a robust, high-quality experience within a more manageable timeframe.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in Vale Sangora. Players assume the role of Coen, a peasant granted vampiric powers, embarking on a quest to save his sister while navigating the dangers of this mystical land.

While a release date remains unannounced, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S launches are planned, with a gameplay reveal expected in Summer 2025.
