How to Watch The Monkey - Showtimes and Streaming Release Date

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 21,2025

Oz Perkins, fresh off the success of Longlegs, delivers another chilling horror adaptation from the pages of Stephen King. The Monkey stars Theo James as a pair of twins tormented by a malevolent, cymbal-banging monkey toy. Joining him in this terrifying escapade are Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, and Adam Scott, all caught in the cursed toy's chaotic wake.

IGN critic Tom Jorgenson hails The Monkey as "one of the best horror-comedies (and Stephen King adaptations) in recent memory," praising its blend of gory thrills and laugh-out-loud humor. Sounds like a perfect mix for horror fans with a penchant for dark comedy.

The Monkey Streaming Release Date

Unlike many films, The Monkey will eventually stream on Hulu, not Netflix or Max. Neon, the distributor, has a deal with Hulu securing the streaming rights to its theatrical releases. Given Neon's release pattern (Longlegs, released July 12th, 2024, arrived on Hulu February 14th, 2025), expect a similar timeframe for The Monkey—several months after its theatrical run. However, digital rentals and purchases via platforms like Prime Video should be available by early May.

What Is The Monkey About?

The Monkey Book Cover

Does The Monkey Have a Post-Credits Scene?

While there isn't a traditional post-credits scene, a surprising element awaits those who stay until the very end. For those curious (but wanting to avoid spoilers), IGN's guide to The Monkey's ending provides further details.
