World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Launch

World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm Event Delayed

The highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been postponed due to unforeseen technical difficulties. While initially slated for January 14th, 2025, Blizzard has not yet provided a revised launch time.

Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced in 2024's Dragonflight expansion, was set to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned deployment, necessitating an extension of the server maintenance period. Although Blizzard aims to launch Plunderstorm before the end of January 14th, a concrete timeframe remains unavailable.

Current Status:

  • Launch: Delayed indefinitely, targeted for completion before the end of January 14th.
  • Estimated Time: Unknown.

While waiting for Plunderstorm's return, players can engage in other in-game activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies or participating in the Turbulent Timeways event.

The delay may be attributed to new features introduced in this iteration of Plunderstorm, including the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. Blizzard is working to resolve these issues promptly.

Despite the delay, the Plunderstorm Twitch Drops campaign remains active. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer does not need to be playing Plunderstorm.
