"Unlocking the Deep Woods: A Guide for Fields of Mistria Players"

Since Fields of Mistria entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map. However, the location was inaccessible until the game’s March 2025 update. Here’s how to access the Deep Woods and where to find Caldarus in Fields of Mistria.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

To unlock the Deep Woods area in Fields of Mistria, you need to break the Fire Seal and utilize the newly acquired Dragon’s Breath spell to burn away the obstructing vines. Start by gathering four essential items: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. These first three can be found between floors 50 and 59 in the mines. To obtain the Sealing Scroll, collaborate with Juniper and Balor. For Balor to secure the scroll, you must place the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

After fulfilling these requirements, speak to Balor again. He'll inform you that the scroll will be ready the next day, enabling you to complete the offering at the Priestess' Fire Seal altar on Floor 60.

Typically, breaking magical seals results in receiving guidance from the mysterious mines Priestess, culminating in unlocking a new biome. However, this time, the outcome deviates. The Priestess urges you to flee before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health wanes, Caldarus, in his human form, comes to your aid and retreats to his temple in the Deep Woods to recuperate.

Caldarus then directs you to find him at his temple, gifting you the Dragon’s Breath spell. This powerful spell not only clears the vines blocking the Deep Woods entrance but can also unlock other previously inaccessible areas. Equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu, stand in front of the area's entrance, and activate the spell to permanently unlock the Deep Woods and beyond.

How To Find Caldarus

Once the Fire Seal is broken, locate Caldarus inside his temple in the Deep Woods, north of the Eastern Road on your map. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to access this area. Caldarus' exact location will be marked on your map, similar to other NPCs, situated in the northeast corner of the Deep Woods.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods, head right, and use your axe to chop down the obstructing stump. Continue north until you reach the temple where Caldarus awaits inside.

After unlocking the Deep Woods, utilize the Dragon Statue on your farm for fast travel to the area, visiting Caldarus for just 10 Essence. This method saves significant time compared to traveling on foot or horseback. Additionally, you can still interact with Caldarus through his statue, albeit in spirit.
