My personal favorite? Squirtle (148/142) captures that playful spirit I adore in classic Gen I Pokémon cards.

I'm particularly fond of the Special Illustration Rare Pecharunt ex (093/064). It's the best promo Legendary we've seen in a while, and the Pecharunt-themed deck is incredibly fun to play. I'm also betting that Persian (078/064) will become a sleeper hit for collectors. Its stunning Gen I artwork has a history of aging well in the Pokémon TCG market.

Obsidian Flames hasn't received the attention it deserves, especially considering it's a Charizard set. But that's good news for you because the triple-pack blisters are a steal right now. The obvious star is Charizard ex (Special Illustration Rare, 228/197), but even the regular Charizard ex (Ultra Rare, 125/197) is in high demand. History tells us that Charizard-heavy sets always see a price surge.

My personal favorite from this set is Ninetales (Illustration Rare, 190/197). The artwork is breathtaking, possibly the best Ninetales card ever printed. If you're a collector, these blisters are worth picking up for the Charizard factor alone, but there's so much more to Obsidian Flames than just fire-breathing dragons.

Shiny Pokémon cards are a big deal for me, and Paldean Fates is chock-full of them. With over 130 Shiny Pokémon, it's one of the most exciting sets to open. But the real reason to pick up these blisters now is Shiny Pikachu (131/091). It's already selling for nearly £50, and with no guaranteed future Shiny Pikachu releases, demand is only going to increase.

Shiny Gardevoir ex (233/091) is another standout card in the set, both for its stunning visuals and its playability. If you're a fan of Gen I nostalgia, don't miss out on Charmander (109/091) and Charmeleon (110/091). They're key components of one of the best Charizard decks in Standard right now, and I wouldn't be surprised if the entire evolution line becomes pricey down the line.
