As reported by Eurogamer on December 20th, Ubisoft's Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. launched under the radar. This top-down, multiplayer arcade shooter necessitates cryptocurrency for gameplay.

The game, according to Eden Online, expands the universe of Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the Netflix series. The game and series will feature familiar Ubisoft franchises, such as Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed.

Limited to 10,000 players, access is granted via a Citizen ID Card NFT. This card tracks in-game achievements and rankings, dynamically evolving based on player performance.

To acquire a card, players need a crypto wallet and must purchase a Niji Warrior ID card from Ubisoft's designated claim page for $25.63. Citizens can relinquish their citizenship and sell their IDs, potentially increasing their value depending on in-game success.

A full launch is slated for Q1 2025, according to Ubisoft's Magic Eden page, but early access is available to those who secured IDs early.

The Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, is an animated adaptation of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon expansion. Set in an alternate 1992, the United States is Eden, a technocracy ruled by a single megacorporation.

The show follows Dolph Laserhawk, an Eden Tech Military supersoldier. After defecting and being betrayed by his boyfriend, Alex Taylor, he's recaptured and forced to join The Ghosts, tasked with undermining Taylor's schemes.

While Ubisoft hasn't detailed the game's plot, it shares the same universe, placing players as citizens under Eden's control. Player actions, like mission completion and community involvement, influence the narrative and leaderboard rankings.
