Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in Madame Web, is set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game Split Fiction. The project is being spearheaded by Story Kitchen, the team behind the successful Sonic films, and is gaining momentum with Wicked director Jon M. Chu at the helm. The screenplay is being crafted by the talented duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, known for their work on Deadpool & Wolverine. Currently, Story Kitchen is shopping this impressive talent package around Hollywood, anticipating a competitive bidding war among studios.

The role Sweeney will take on remains undecided between the two sisters, Zoe or Mio. Split Fiction, developed by Hazelight and designed by Josef Fares, launched in March and quickly became a hit, selling over 2 million copies within its first week. It's also slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2.

IGN's review praised Split Fiction, awarding it a 9/10 and describing it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another, Split Fiction is a rollercoaster of constantly refreshed gameplay ideas and styles – and one that’s very hard to walk away from."

Hazelight is no stranger to cinematic adaptations, with their other mega-hit, It Takes Two, also in the process of being turned into a movie, potentially starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. While there's always a chance these adaptations might not come to fruition, the current success of video game adaptations in Hollywood bodes well for these projects.

Story Kitchen is not stopping at Split Fiction. They've also announced film adaptations for Just Cause with director Ángel Manuel Soto, Dredge: The Movie, Kingmakers, Sleeping Dogs, and even a live-action Toys 'R' Us movie. Meanwhile, Hazelight is already teasing their next game, keeping fans eagerly anticipating what's next.

With the buzz around Split Fiction and the talent involved, this adaptation is shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of the game and movie enthusiasts alike.
