Sydney Sweeney, renowned for her roles in HBO's "Euphoria," "The White Lotus," "Reality," "Anyone but You," and the superhero film "Madame Web," is reportedly in the final stages of negotiations to star in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the iconic anime and toy franchise, Mobile Suit Gundam. This exciting development was reported by Variety, although specifics about her character or the plot remain under wraps.

In February, it was officially announced that production had begun on the live-action film, a collaboration between Bandai Namco and Legendary, who have agreed to co-finance the project. The film, which has yet to receive an official title, is set to be penned and directed by Kim Mickle, the showrunner of "Sweet Tooth." While no release date or plot details have been disclosed, a teaser poster was unveiled, hinting at the visual style and tone of the upcoming movie.

Legendary and Bandai Namco have expressed their intent to gradually release more information as it becomes available. They highlighted the significance of the original "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, which first aired in 1979, noting its pivotal role in establishing the "real robot anime" genre. This genre shifted away from the traditional narratives of clear-cut good versus evil, instead offering realistic portrayals of war, detailed scientific exploration, and complex human dramas centered around 'mobile suits' as weapons, sparking a massive cultural phenomenon.
