Nintendo Direct Special Focused on Switch 2 Arrives April 2, 2025

Following months of speculation fueled by insider leaks, Nintendo has unveiled its next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2. The reveal came through a brief teaser trailer on Thursday, January 16, displaying a refined hybrid design that builds upon the original Switch's successful formula.

The teaser highlights several key upgrades: a substantially larger display, a sturdier kickstand with wider support, and magnetically attached Joy-Cons—marking a shift from the previous rail system. Nintendo also confirmed an additional USB-C port on the console itself.

Backward compatibility was officially confirmed, allowing players to enjoy both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games on the new system—though some titles may face limitations.
