The gaming world often sees projects attempting to capitalize on successful titles. However, Wukong Sun: Black Legend goes beyond mere inspiration; it displays significant similarities to Game Science's hit game. Its visual style, the protagonist wielding a staff, and the plot synopsis strongly resemble a direct copy.

Currently available for pre-order on the US eShop, the game's future is uncertain. Given the apparent plagiarism, Game Science could pursue a copyright infringement lawsuit, potentially leading to its removal from the platform.

Wukong Sun: Black Legend's description reads: “Embark on an epic journey to the West. Play as the immortal Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, fighting for order in a chaotic world teeming with powerful monsters and deadly dangers. Explore a story inspired by Chinese mythology, featuring intense battles, stunning locations, and legendary enemies.”

In contrast, Black Myth: Wukong is a highly popular epic adventure drawing from Chinese mythology. Unexpectedly, this RPG from a small Chinese studio soared to success, dominating Steam charts. It boasts exceptional detail, engaging gameplay, and challenging, skill-based combat. While incorporating elements of the Souls-like genre, it remains surprisingly accessible to newcomers.

The combat system and progression are thoughtfully designed, avoiding the need for extensive guides while still demanding strategic thinking. Visually, the battles are breathtaking, thanks to fluid animations. The game's core strength lies in its setting and visual design; it's a captivating fairy tale, immersing players with stunning character design and world-building. Many gamers believe Black Myth: Wukong deserved a "Game of the Year 2024" nomination at the TGA.
