New Strategy Game is Like XCOM With Vikings

Arctic Hazard unveils Norse, a captivating new strategy game reminiscent of XCOM, but uniquely set in Viking-era Norway. This title promises a richly detailed historical setting and a compelling narrative crafted by award-winning author Giles Kristian.

The gaming landscape frequently features medieval fantasy settings. Fans of European medieval games with survival elements might enjoy titles like Manor Lords and Medieval Dynasty. Others offer Roman Empire management and large-scale battles, such as Imperator: Rome. However, Vikings consistently hold a prominent place in the gaming world.

Norse is a turn-based strategy game, echoing the XCOM formula but within a Viking context. Players guide Gunnar, a young warrior driven by revenge for his father's murder at the hands of Steinarr Far-Spear. Gunnar's journey involves establishing a settlement, recruiting allies, and building a formidable Viking army. Unlike the construction-focused Valheim, Norse prioritizes narrative.

Norse: A New Viking Strategy Game in the Style of XCOM

To ensure historical accuracy and an engaging story, Arctic Hazard collaborated with Giles Kristian, a prize-winning, Sunday Times best-selling author, to write the game's script. Kristian, with over a million books sold and six Viking-themed novels under his belt, brings significant expertise. The trailer showcases the developer's commitment to authentically portraying Norway, aiming to create a truly memorable Viking experience.

Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Norse will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Players can add Norse to their Steam wishlists, though a release date is yet to be announced.
