Shift Up, the developer behind the popular action game Stellar Blade, has unveiled its plans for upcoming updates and future content. The game, a notable release this year, has garnered a significant following, leading to high anticipation for future developments. While Shift Up has been addressing performance issues and improving quality of life, a clearer roadmap has been revealed.

According to a presentation by Shift Up CFO Ahn Jae-woo, several updates are on the horizon. A highly anticipated Photo Mode is slated for release around August. New character skins are in the works and will be available sometime after October. Furthermore, a major collaboration is planned for the end of 2024; speculation points towards a partnership with the Nier series, given the known relationship between the directors and Stellar Blade's clear inspiration from Nier: Automata.

Stellar Blade Update Roadmap:

  • Photo Mode: Around August
  • New Skins: Available after October
  • Major Collaboration: End of 2024
  • Sequel Confirmed: Paid DLC under consideration

Ahn Jae-woo also confirmed ongoing preparations for a PC release of Stellar Blade and expressed satisfaction with sales, exceeding one million copies. He cited successful titles like Ghost of Tsushima and Detroit: Become Human as examples of games that achieved significantly higher sales, highlighting the impressive achievement for a new IP.

The positive outlook for Stellar Blade's continued success has fueled anticipation for a sequel. While Shift Up is exploring the possibility of paid DLC, the development of a Stellar Blade sequel has been confirmed, although details remain scarce. The company's immediate focus is on the current roadmap, suggesting further announcements may take time. However, the outlined updates offer plenty for fans to anticipate in the near future.
