Stellar Blade, the action-packed game that hit the shelves in April 2024, is set to receive a fully-fledged sequel, as confirmed by its developer, Shift Up. The PlayStation-published title garnered positive feedback from players, who praised its unique blend of gameplay elements reminiscent of NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

In a recent chart showcasing Shift Up's future plans, released as part of their latest financial results, the Korean company officially announced the development of a Stellar Blade sequel. The chart indicates that the sequel is slated for release before 2027, positioning it as the next major project among other upcoming titles.

Before the sequel's arrival, Stellar Blade is expected to undergo a "platform expansion," which likely refers to its upcoming PC version set to launch on June 11, 2025. This period will also see the debut of Shift Up's enigmatic Project Witches, a new multiplatform action RPG that remains shrouded in mystery.

Earlier this week, Shift Up addressed a PC region lock issue affecting Stellar Blade's Steam store page, which had been blocked in over 100 countries. The company is actively working with Sony to resolve this matter.

In IGN's review of Stellar Blade, the game was described as a visually stunning and well-crafted action title with notable strengths and weaknesses. While the story and characters were found lacking in substance, and some RPG elements, such as repetitive sidequests, were criticized, the game's combat system stood out. Drawing inspiration from Sekiro, the combat was praised for its solid fundamentals, challenging enemies, and rewarding exploration elements that encouraged players to delve deeper into the game's world.
