"Star Wars: Starfighter" Set for May 2027 Release with Ryan Gosling

Lucasfilm has unveiled Star Wars: Starfighter, a new film directed by Shawn Levy of Deadpool & Wolverine fame, featuring Ryan Gosling. It is slated for a theatrical release on May 28, 2027, set five years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The announcement was made at Star Wars Celebration, with production confirmed to start this fall.

Little is known about Star Wars: Starfighter, except that Gosling will portray a new character, setting the stage for an exciting Memorial Day 2027 for Star Wars enthusiasts.

In a touching moment, Gosling shared that his mother sent him a nostalgic photo of his childhood Star Wars bedsheets upon learning he secured the role.

Star Wars: Starfighter joins a new era of Star Wars films, including The Mandalorian & Grogu, and projects from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, Taika Waititi, and a trilogy by Simon Kinberg.

The title may ring a bell, as Star Wars: Starfighter was originally a video game released in 2001.
