Star Wars Outlaws Set for Nintendo Switch 2 Release

Author:Kristen Update:May 26,2025

Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Star Wars: Outlaws will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2, although it won't be a launch title for the new console. Set to release on September 4, a few months after the Nintendo Switch 2's debut on June 5, this space adventure has already made its mark on PS5, Xbox, and PC.

Set between the iconic films The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: Outlaws follows the journey of Kay Vess, a small-time criminal facing a death mark from a cartel. Our reviewer rated it a 7, praising its engaging intergalactic heist theme and expansive exploration while noting some drawbacks such as simplistic stealth mechanics, repetitive combat, and initial bugs.

While Ubisoft kept further details under wraps, they did confirm the game's availability on the Nintendo Switch 2 and its release date, allowing us to update the Switch 2 Games List. This news comes as a welcome update for American and Canadian gamers currently navigating pre-order uncertainties due to new tariffs introduced by the Republican administration.

The announcement was made during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled the second story pack for Star Wars: Outlaws, titled A Pirate’s Fortune. In this expansion, Kay Vess allies with Hondo Ohnaka to confront Stinger Tash, the leader of the Rokana Raiders. Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune is slated for release on May 15, adding more excitement to the game's universe.
