Nintendo Halts Regular Splatoon 3 Updates

The End of an Era Sparks Splatoon 4 Rumors

Nintendo has officially announced the conclusion of regular content updates for Splatoon 3. While this marks a significant shift, the game isn't entirely abandoned. Holiday events like Splatoween and Frosty Fest will continue, along with ongoing monthly challenges and necessary weapon balance adjustments.

The official Twitter (X) announcement stated: "After 2 INK-credible years of Splatoon 3, regular updates will come to a close. Don't worry! Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will continue with some returning themes! Updates for weapon adjustments will be released as needed. Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will continue for the time being."

This news follows the Grand Festival event, concluding on September 16th. Nintendo released a commemorative video showcasing past Splatfests, featuring the Deep Cut trio. The message was clear: "Thanks for holding down the Splatlands with us, it's been a blast!"

With Splatoon 3's two-year anniversary recently passed and development winding down, anticipation for a sequel is reaching fever pitch. Rumors of Splatoon 4 development have been circulating for months.

Intriguingly, some players believe they've discovered potential easter eggs or clues within the Grand Festival event hinting at a new setting for a future game. Images of a city-like location have led to speculation about its role in a potential Splatoon 4. However, others have countered that these locations are merely variations on existing in-game environments.

While no official announcement regarding Splatoon 4 exists, recent reports suggest Nintendo has initiated development on a new Splatoon title for the Switch. The Grand Festival, serving as Splatoon 3's final major Splatfest, further fuels this belief, particularly considering the influence past Final Fests have had on subsequent sequels. A "Past, Present, or Future" theme for Splatoon 4 has been suggested by some fans, based on this trend.

For now, the gaming community eagerly awaits any official confirmation from Nintendo regarding a new Splatoon installment.
