Silksong: It's Real!

Confirmation from Team Cherry's Griffin

Following a recent profile picture change by Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen (which sparked considerable fan speculation), Team Cherry's Matthew "Leth" Griffin confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that Silksong is indeed real and actively in development. He responded directly to a fan's plea for reassurance. While a previous rumour, fueled by Pellen's cake-themed profile picture, suggested a potential ARG or Nintendo Switch 2 announcement, Griffin clarified that the cake was simply a harmless profile picture change. "Apologies to have misled everyone. The cake was a lie," tweeted YouTuber fireb0rn, who initially investigated the rumour.

However, Griffin's subsequent confirmation that "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release" provides much-needed reassurance after a year and a half of silence from the team.

Silksong's Six-Year Journey

Initially revealed in February 2019 with a planned release in the first half of 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay in May 2023, citing the game's expanded scope and their desire for further refinement. They previously highlighted Silksong's features, including a new kingdom, nearly 150 new enemies, and a challenging new difficulty level, "Silk Soul" mode. While the delay is nearing two years, this update, however small, breaks the silence.

Fan reaction has been mixed. While some express excitement and offer words of encouragement to the developers, others express impatience after almost six years of waiting, feeling the update insufficient.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will follow Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on a perilous journey to the kingdom's peak. While a release date remains unannounced, stay tuned for future updates!
