"Silksong Fans Hopeful for Nintendo Direct Reveal Next Week"

Author:Kristen Update:May 03,2025

While some gaming communities, like the fans of Tomodachi Life, are buzzing with excitement after today's Nintendo Direct, others are left feeling let down. The Hollow Knight: Silksong community, in particular, is once again donning their clown makeup, disappointed by the absence of a new trailer for the eagerly awaited sequel during the showcase.

Fortunately, another opportunity is just around the corner.

Of course, now we wait for April 2nd

The Silksong community has been riding a rollercoaster of anticipation and disappointment for quite some time. Dive into their subreddit or Discord any day, and you'll find a sea of memes and "silkposts" filled with fantasies, predictions, and jokes about a game that feels perpetually out of reach. Their reactions to back-to-back Nintendo Directs last year and the frenzy over a chocolate cake photo in January, mistakenly thought to be part of an alternate reality game (ARG), are just a couple of examples of their rollercoaster ride. From an outsider's perspective, it's challenging to gauge whether the community is genuinely disheartened or simply enjoying a collective jest every time a new showcase is announced.

Nintendo Direct? That’s not until April 2nd

However, the stakes feel higher for the upcoming showcase. Hollow Knight first gained widespread acclaim on PC, but its popularity soared after its release on the Nintendo Switch the following year. This association with Nintendo's platform has heightened fans' expectations. The upcoming Nintendo Direct, rumored to spotlight the Nintendo Switch 2 and its launch titles, seems like the perfect stage for Silksong to make a grand reappearance. Amidst expected first-party titles, Hollow Knight enthusiasts are holding out hope that Silksong's popularity and anticipation will earn it a spot in this major event, signaling that the game might finally be ready for release.

Will the Silksong community face yet another disappointment, perhaps the 50th since the game's announcement? It's likely, but there are hints that a release date announcement might be nearing. A recent Xbox Wire post on indies mentioned Silksong, albeit possibly in jest, and recent backend updates to its Steam listing, including a copyright year change, have fueled speculation. Yet, the community has experienced numerous false alarms with the game's listings appearing and disappearing from various console storefronts, making any prediction uncertain.

The only thing we know for sure comes from Team Cherry's marketing and publishing chief, Matthew 'Leth' Griffin, who confirmed in January, after the cake incident, that "Yes the game is real, progressing, and will release." Until then, all we can do is wait and dream of the day we finally enter a world post-Silksong.

So, get that clown makeup ready for next week, folks!
