Silent Hill f Steam Deck Compatible, But Not Quite Verified

Silent Hill f is set to be playable on the Steam Deck, but it will require some configuration to ensure a seamless gaming experience. Delve into the details of Valve’s Steam Deck classification for Silent Hill f and explore the game's PC requirements.

Silent Hill f Official Testing Results For Steam Deck Released

Playable But Requires Configuration

Silent Hill f Steam Deck Compatible, But Not Quite Verified

Valve's official testing results confirm that Silent Hill f can be played on the Steam Deck, yet it falls short of being "verified." For a game to achieve "verified" status, it must be fully compatible with the Steam Deck’s controls and display, passing Valve’s stringent checks for input, display, seamlessness, and system support.

Silent Hill f meets most of these criteria: it supports the default controller configuration and displays Steam Deck controller icons. However, some in-game text may be challenging to read due to its size. To ensure optimal performance, manual configuration is necessary. This marks a significant improvement over the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which was initially unsupported on the Steam Deck despite subsequent patches. Konami has not yet revealed an official release date for Silent Hill f, leaving room for further optimization.

PC System Requirements

Konami unveiled the PC requirements for Silent Hill f on its Steam store page last month, providing insight into its compatibility with the Steam Deck. Below are the minimum and recommended system specifications:

For the minimum specs, an NVIDIA GTX 1070 is required to run the game at 720p with 30fps on Performance Quality settings. Given the Steam Deck's GPU capabilities, players might experience a slight downgrade compared to these minimum requirements. While 720p resolution on the Steam Deck might not be too detrimental, those using it with HD TVs may notice a difference. Konami recommends using an SSD for a smoother experience.

The recommended specs allow players to choose between Performance settings at 60fps or Quality settings at 30fps, both of which necessitate an SSD.

The latest Silent Hill Transmission on March 13 offered a glimpse into what fans can expect from the game. Silent Hill f is now available for wishlisting on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
