Bloober Team recently announced a partnership deal with Konami to develop a new game based on one of the latter’s iconic IPs. Although both parties have refrained from disclosing specifics about the upcoming title or its associated franchise, Bloober’s proficiency in crafting atmospheric horror experiences and the commercial success of the Silent Hill 2 remake suggest that the new project could very well be another entry in the Silent Hill series. As per the agreement, Konami will retain publishing rights and maintain ownership of the intellectual property.

In a statement released by Bloober Team’s CEO, Piotr Babieno, he highlighted the journey of their collaboration with Konami. Starting with the partnership announcement in 2021, the two companies worked closely on reviving the legacy of Silent Hill through the critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake. Released on October 8, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam (with no confirmed release for Xbox Series X/S yet), the remake quickly achieved the milestone of selling one million copies within days of its launch. Praised for its innovative approach while staying true to the original essence, the game received high praise, including a Metacritic score of 86 and OpenCritic score of 88, alongside accolades such as IGN Japan’s Game of the Year 2024 and Best Horror Game from IGN Community Awards.

This mutual trust and success paved the way for their latest venture. While details remain scarce, Bloober expressed excitement over their ongoing collaboration, emphasizing their commitment to delivering exceptional content under the first-party framework.

Meanwhile, the Silent Hill 2 remake has sparked interest in other Silent Hill projects currently underway, including the highly anticipated Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall, and even a film adaptation of Silent Hill 2. Additionally, modders are actively creating transformative content for the PC version of the remake, experimenting with elements like fog removal and aesthetic adjustments.

As anticipation builds, fans eagerly await further announcements regarding this mysterious new project. Could it be a sequel, a spin-off, or perhaps a reimagining of another classic title within the Silent Hill universe? Only time will tell what surprises Bloober Team and Konami have in store.
