Game Director Guangyun Chen shared exciting news with PC Gamer on March 14 about the upcoming changes to team-up skills in Marvel Rivals. Chen stated, "Starting from Season 2, we will introduce new Team-Up skills with the seasonal update and adjust some existing ones. Together with seasonal overall balance adjustments, this will create a new combat environment and experience for the season."

Currently, the game features 17 team-up skills, including Ragnarok Rebirth for Hela and either Loki or Thor, Lunar Force for Cloak & Dagger and Moon Knight, and Allied Agents for Hawkeye and Black Widow. As the roster grows, balancing these team-up skills will be a significant challenge for NetEase, promising an ever-evolving gameplay experience.

Balancing Heroes

Balancing a diverse cast of heroes is no small feat, especially as Marvel Rivals continues to expand its roster. Chen explained the team's approach, saying, "First, we will closely monitor key metrics for heroes across different modes. For example, in Quick Match and Competitive Modes, we will analyze data such as win rates, pick rates, damage, healing, damage taken, and final blows for heroes at various ranks and in different tournaments. This data serves as the foundation for our balancing efforts."

He further elaborated, "At the same time, we will analyze the composition of hero lineups and their win rates within the aforementioned modes, which will be crucial references for our overall balancing direction. Finally, we will pay close attention to the player community as one of the bases for our balancing decisions."

Chen also revealed in a January interview with Metro that Marvel Rivals plans to introduce a new hero every half-season. With each season lasting about three months, this means eight new heroes could join the roster annually. As the game grows, so does the challenge of maintaining balance, a task NetEase is actively tackling.

Moreover, Chen confirmed that content for Season 2 is ready, and designs for Seasons 3 and 4 are in intensive development. This aligns with NetEase's commitment to supporting Marvel Rivals for at least a decade, ensuring fans will enjoy continuous updates and improvements.

Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Iron Man Coming on March 20

On March 18, NetEase announced via Marvel Rivals' official X (formerly Twitter) account that new skins for Spiderman and Iron Man will be available starting March 20 at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21 at 2:00 AM UTC. Spiderman's "Spider-Punk 2099" skin features a futuristic look with a digital mask and a spiked mohawk, complete with an electric guitar. Meanwhile, Iron Man's "Steam Power" skin embraces a steampunk aesthetic, featuring large exhaust pipes and a burning furnace on his torso.

These skins, which were fan favorites during the game's closed beta, follow the release of Loki's Presidential attire. While the release date for the new skins has been set, their prices remain undisclosed.

As Marvel Rivals wraps up Season 1, excitement builds for the upcoming changes and updates in Season 2. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. To stay updated with the latest news on Marvel Rivals, check out our article below!
