Mark Hamill's surprise appearance as Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian stands as one of the most memorable moments in Star Wars history. At Star Wars Celebration, Rosario Dawson shared her astonishment at not being informed about Hamill's cameo until he actually appeared on the set of The Book of Boba Fett.

To maintain the secrecy surrounding Luke Skywalker's cameo, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau cleverly used Jedi Master Plo Koon as a decoy in the scripts. This strategy was designed to prevent leaks, and it worked well—until it came to informing Dawson. She recounted her confusion upon reading about Plo Koon's supposed appearance in the script, especially since fans know he met his demise in Revenge of the Sith.

"I was like... I don't know... but people disappear and then they come back, so maybe it's possible?" Dawson remarked. Her bewilderment turned to surprise when Mark Hamill walked onto the set. Hamill himself couldn't help but comment on the absurdity of Plo Koon's inclusion, saying, "Plo Koon? That wouldn't even make sense!" Dawson agreed, noting that despite the confusion, she had to believe it due to the script.

Filoni and Favreau expressed their regret for not informing her earlier, with Filoni admitting, "I think we assumed you'd gotten told the right information. We were in it so much." Favreau added that there were two major secrets they had to protect: Grogu's reveal at the end of the first episode and Luke Skywalker's appearance at the end of season two. They managed to keep both under wraps, although they failed to loop in Dawson.

Despite the mix-up, Dawson took it in stride, humorously noting, "I love it, they know I can't be trusted."
