Respawn Cancels Titanfall Universe Multiplayer Shooter

A former employee of Respawn Entertainment disclosed on her LinkedIn profile that the studio has recently halted the development of a new game this week. The project, which had been in the works for several years, was abruptly stopped without any explanation given to the team or the public. Last year, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb noted that this was not a mainline entry in the Titanfall series, clarifying that it was not Titanfall 3. Respawn had assembled a unique "experimental team" specifically for this project, bringing on board experts in multiplayer shooter development.

This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project. Last year, they also discontinued an arcade shooter known internally as Titanfall Legends. The Titanfall franchise, renowned for its exhilarating mix of action and mech piloting, allows players to engage in battles either as agile pilots or as formidable Titans. Since its debut in 2014, the series has captivated gamers with its innovative gameplay that seamlessly integrates parkour with intense team-based combat.

Currently, Respawn Entertainment is shifting its focus to other ventures. They are actively developing the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series, continuing their successful collaboration with the iconic franchise. Additionally, they are working on a new strategy game set within the Star Wars universe, partnering with Bit Reactor for this ambitious project.
