Throughout 2024, fan theories and leaks about the PlayStation 5 Pro have kept the gaming community on the edge of their seats. But it was at Gamescom 2024 where the conversation truly took off. Developers openly discussed their plans to align game releases with the PS5 Pro's launch, as noted by Alessio Palumbo of Wccftech.

Palumbo shared a fascinating insight from an anonymous developer: "Without even being prodded by me, a developer mentioned they had received the specs for the PS5 Pro and were confident that Unreal Engine 5 would perform significantly better on the new hardware compared to the regular PlayStation 5."

This aligns with a report from the Italian gaming site Multiplayer, which mentioned in a live stream that a developer had postponed their game’s release to match the rumored PS5 Pro launch. Palumbo added, "Considering the information shared by Multiplayer, I'm confident this isn't the same developer. Additionally, the studio I spoke with isn't a major one, suggesting that a wide range of game developers already have access to the PS5 Pro's specifications."

PS5 Pro Releasing Soon, Analyst Says

Backing up Palumbo’s observations and the developer insights from Gamescom 2024, analyst William R. Aguilar hinted on X in July that Sony is poised to announce the PS5 Pro later this year. Aguilar speculated that this announcement could coincide with the rumored State of Play in September 2024, indicating that Sony might need to act quickly to avoid impacting current PS5 sales.

This timeline mirrors the PlayStation 4 Pro’s rollout in 2016, which saw an announcement on September 7 and a release just two months later on November 10. Palumbo noted, "If Sony follows a similar pattern, it is reasonable to assume an official announcement is near."
