Pokemon GO Unova Tour: Black and White Kyurem and Shiny Meloetta Debut!

Get ready, trainers! Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are finally arriving in Pokémon GO as part of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, alongside a Shiny Meloetta! This guide explains how to capture and fuse these legendary Pokémon.

Legendary Pokémon Arrive in Pokémon GO

Black and White Kyurem's Grand Entrance

Following the December 2024 announcement of the February 2025 Unova Tour, Niantic has revealed the highly anticipated debut of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta.

From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees of the in-person events in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, can capture and fuse Kyurem into its powerful Black and White forms. To begin, trainers must defeat Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids to obtain the base Kyurem form.

Once captured, Kyurem can be fused with either Zekrom or Reshiram, granting access to new devastating attacks: Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) and Ice Burn (White Kyurem). Here's what you'll need:

• Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy
• White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy

Raid battles against Black or White Kyurem yield the necessary Fusion Energy. Reversion to the base Kyurem form requires no Fusion Energy or Candy. Plus, there's an increased chance of encountering Shiny Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom during the event!

For those unable to attend the in-person events, a global event, Pokémon GO Tour: Unova - Global, will take place on March 1st and 2nd, 2025. This ticket-free event is open to all players.

Meloetta, the Melody Pokémon, Joins the Celebration

Adding to the excitement, Shiny Meloetta makes its Pokémon GO debut! In-person event attendees can complete a Masterwork Research task to encounter this melodious Pokémon. Don't worry about time constraints; the Masterwork Research doesn't expire.

Iconic Legendaries from Pokémon Black and White 2

Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of the main series games set in the Unova region. The first three are obtainable during the main storyline, with Meloetta awarded upon completion. Pokémon Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, each capable of learning Ice Burn and Freeze Shock, mirroring their Pokémon GO counterparts.
