DC Studios boss James Gunn has exciting news for fans, confirming that Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on Max on August 21. Alongside this announcement, Gunn shared a brief snippet of new footage, showcasing John Cena's character in action. In the clip, Cena is seen smirking at the camera amidst a backdrop of flames, with a voice declaring that Peacemaker is now "a superhero."

Gunn expressed his enthusiasm on Twitter, stating, "Counting the days until Peace on Earth. I just finished the DI & Mix on the Season Premiere yesterday and wow it’s one of my favorite things ever." He shared the release date and the teaser clip, generating buzz among fans eager for the new season.

Peacemaker Season 2 follows the release of Superman on July 11, marking the big-screen kickoff for Gunn's rebooted DC Universe (DCU). It will be the third entry in the new DCU, following last year's Creature Commandos TV series and this summer's Superman movie.

The new DCU, spearheaded by Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran, aims to move away from the critically panned DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, some elements from the old universe will persist. Peacemaker serves as a prime example of this continuity, having debuted in the DCEU with its first season, but now continuing in the new DCU with its second.

Gunn has previously mentioned that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though it's not entirely clear which elements will transition from the DCEU to the DCU. He has confirmed that all members of Team Peacemaker will return, with the same actors reprising their roles. This includes John Cena as Peacemaker, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Furthermore, Gunn has indicated that Peacemaker Season 2 will take place after the events of Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly impacting the storyline of Peacemaker. This interconnected narrative promises to weave a cohesive tapestry across the new DCU, enhancing the viewing experience for fans.
