Pocketpair's vibrant Palworld is filled with mystical treasures and Pals waiting to be discovered, and the game's vast open world has captivated players since its record-breaking launch in January 2024. The massive Feybreak expansion further enriches the experience by introducing a variety of new crafting materials. These resources allow players to enhance their characters and fortify their Pal bases with advanced technology.

Among these new items, Dark Fragments can be particularly elusive if you don't know where to search. Distinct from the more common Paldium, this rare material is crucial for crafting high-end accessories. Finding it should be a top priority for any adventurer exploring Feybreak.

How to Get Dark Fragments in Palworld

To gather Dark Fragments in Palworld, you must hunt down Dark-element Pals on the island of Feybreak. Note that Dark Pals found on other islands will not drop this material, as Dark Fragments are exclusive to the Feybreak region. While the coastal and gravel areas of the island are populated mainly by Ground and Water-type Pals, you'll need to venture inland to find their Dark-type counterparts. Certain Pals, like Starryon, only appear at night unless you encounter a boss variant.

Whether you capture or defeat these Pals with your chosen weapon and Pal Sphere (Ultimate or Exotic Spheres are recommended), they typically yield an average of 1 to 3 Dark Fragments. As with other material-dropping Pals, Dark Fragments are not a guaranteed reward from every encounter. However, by systematically hunting Dark-type Pals, you should be able to accumulate a decent supply.

Dark Fragments can be obtained by capturing or defeating the following Dark-element Pals. Please note that some listed are boss or aggressive predator variants found in the open world or dungeons of Feybreak.

Drop Rate

Starryon

1-2 Dark Fragments

Omascul

1-2 Dark Fragments

Splatterina

2-3 Dark Fragments

Dazzi Noct

1 Dark Fragment

Kitsun Noct

1-2 Dark Fragments

Starryon (Midnight Blue Mane; Boss)

1-2 Dark Fragments

Rampaging Starryon (Predator Pal)

1-2 Dark Fragments

Omascul (Hundred-Faced Apostle; Boss)

1-2 Dark Fragments

Rampaging Omascul (Predator Pal)

1-2 Dark Fragments

Rampaging Splatterina (Predator Pal)

2-3 Dark Fragments

While not a reliable source, you can occasionally find single Dark Fragments scattered randomly on the ground across Feybreak. This makes thorough exploration worthwhile, as constant combat can quickly deplete ammunition you might prefer to save for tougher challenges like the island's Tower Boss, Bjorn.

How to Use Dark Fragments in Palworld

Although collecting a substantial number of Dark Fragments can be challenging, this material is used in a select range of high-tier recipes. It is primarily required for crafting specialized gear like saddles and accessories for specific Pals, as well as enhanced dash and jump boots for your character.

In total, Dark Fragments are used to craft the following items. Remember, you must first unlock each item's schematic in your Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) by spending Technology Points. After unlocking, you'll need the appropriate workbenches and all necessary materials to craft the item.
