Nintendo Switch 20.1.0 Update Alters NSO Sound

Nintendo has rolled out another system update for the Switch, arriving just days before the anticipated Switch 2 launch.

Patch notes for Nintendo Switch System Update Ver. 20.1.0 indicate minimal changes, including the ever-recurring "general system stability" improvements.

More notably, this firmware introduces visual refinements to parental control settings and alters the audio cue played when launching Nintendo Switch Online from the Home Menu.

According to @Nexusvoyager, additional navigation sounds have been introduced, and the NSO app has undergone UI adjustments—likely aligning it with the Switch 2 experience. In fact, this update seems to synchronize the Switch’s Nintendo Switch Online app with its Switch 2 counterpart.

Theme Adjustments and Dark Mode Support

Prominent Switch firmware analyst @OatmealDome discovered theme-related modifications, including renaming "Basic White" and "Basic Black" to "Basic Light" and "Basic Dark," while enabling Basic Dark theme support in the NSO app.
