Nintendo Switch 2: New Game Case Size Revealed?

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 14,2025

Nintendo Switch 2 fans are buzzing, but not about the console itself—the excitement now centers on the size of its game cases. A French retailer, Fnac, seemingly leaked the dimensions, sparking a flurry of discussion. As spotted by journalist Felipe Lima and reported by Nintendo Life, a Take-Two Interactive game listing revealed the potential dimensions.

According to this leak, Nintendo Switch 2 game boxes will be slightly larger than their Switch counterparts. A helpful Reddit post by HertzBurst visually compares the two sizes. The leaked dimensions are approximately 5.1 inches (13 centimeters) by 7.7 inches (19.5 centimeters).

While larger than current Switch cases, they remain significantly smaller than those used for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 games. Although unofficial, the early release of these dimensions to retailers makes sense for logistical purposes like preparing store displays.

A release date remains unconfirmed by Nintendo, but speculation points towards a launch between June and September. This is fueled by upcoming hands-on events extending into June, and Nacon's statement that the console will launch before September.

The Nintendo Switch 2 was initially revealed in January with a short trailer showcasing backwards compatibility and a second USB-C port. Many details remain shrouded in mystery, including its game lineup and the function of a new Joy-Con button (although the "Joy-Con mouse" theory has gained some traction).
