The long-awaited details about Nintendo's next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, have finally been unveiled, and the specifications are more impressive than many anticipated. The system supports up to 120fps and can reach 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant upgrade from its predecessor.

PlayDuring today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to the original Switch, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm but with double the pixels. This allows for a 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The screen is an LCD that supports HDR, and when docked, it can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR as well.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers feature a magnetic connection and can be detached using a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing the horizontal play experience, and the left and right sticks have also been increased in size. Additionally, this segment officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.

The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio capabilities for compatible games. It also comes with a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for different height settings. A top USB port is available for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.

Lastly, the Nintendo Switch 2 is equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
