Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update: New Game Plus Added

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 14,2025

Team Ninja has rolled out an extensive update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, now updated to version 1.0.7.0. This patch introduces exciting new features such as New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and more, addressing fan feedback as promised in January. It's now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.

New Game Plus lets players embark on a new adventure on any difficulty they've previously cleared, carrying over all weapons and Ninpo from their last playthrough. However, these items will revert to Level 1, and players can't skip directly to a higher difficulty using this mode.

A quality of life enhancement allows players to hide the projectile weapon on their back. This option can be toggled in the Options menu under Game Settings, offering a cleaner look during gameplay.

Balance changes have also been implemented. The Hit Points of enemies in Chapter 8 and Chapter 11 have been lowered, while the number of enemies in Chapter 13 and Chapter 14 has been increased. Additionally, the damage output of some of Ayane's attacks has been boosted.

The patch also includes a variety of bug fixes, addressing issues that arose on high-performance PCs, game-breaking bugs in certain chapters, and other minor glitches. For a detailed list, the full patch notes are provided below.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black was a surprise release during the January Xbox Developer Direct. This updated version, crafted using Unreal Engine 5, enhances graphic expression, introduces new playable characters, and improves battle support functions. In our 8/10 review, IGN praised the game, noting that while it may not be the definitive version due to fewer, tougher enemies, it's a significant and visually stunning improvement over its Sigma 2 predecessor, remaining an exceptional action game.
