The Witcher's Latest Animated Film: Sirens of the Deep

A Coastal Village on the Continent

Netflix's Witcher Animated Movie Coming FebruaryNetflix Tudum, the official Netflix news source, announced the February 11, 2025 release of The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. This animated film adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.

The story unfolds in a coastal village where a centuries-old conflict between humans and merfolk has prompted a kingdom to enlist the services of a Witcher. Instead of the usual monsters, Geralt faces a unique challenge – battling merpeople.

Dogue Cockle returns as the voice of Geralt. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren, known for her work in Will Trent, voices a new character, Essi Daven.

Andrzej Sapkowski, author of the Witcher novels, acts as a creative consultant. The screenplay is by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin, writers for the live-action series. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs the film.

A Story Set Within Witcher Season 1

Netflix's Witcher Animated Movie Coming FebruaryThe film's timeline fits between episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher's first season. Following Geralt and Yennefer's meeting in Rinde after the Djinn incident, Geralt is hired to resolve a monstrous threat near the coast.

The location is likely near the Redanian and Temerian border. Based on "A Little Sacrifice," the setting could be Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval. Whether the film strictly adheres to the short story remains to be seen.
