Netflix Unveils First MMO: Spirit Crossing Launching Soon

Netflix is venturing into the world of MMOs with the announcement of Spirit Crossing at GDC 2025. Developed by Spry Fox, the creators behind the beloved titles Cozy Grove and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, this new game promises to deliver the same warm, pastel visuals, soothing music, and a focus on building connections rather than competing.

Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing

In Spirit Crossing, players will have the opportunity to explore a vast world, build and decorate homes, and cultivate a thriving village with others. The game encourages players to gather resources, ride around on fluffy creatures, join dance parties, and simply enjoy the atmosphere with friends.

The visual style of Spirit Crossing draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and even modern art styles like Corporate Memphis. This blend aims to create a timeless and inviting space where players feel at home and want to stay for years.

A unique feature of the game is its in-game calendar system that influences progression. For example, trees you plant will take three to six real-world months to mature into a harvestable orchard, echoing the slow-paced, long-term design philosophy Spry Fox explored in Cozy Grove.

At the heart of Spirit Crossing is the emphasis on forming meaningful connections, a core element of Spry Fox’s design ethos. David Edery, co-founder of the studio, expressed his vision for the game to be a space where strangers can become friends.
